Bee Keeping Workshop Promotes Sustainable Livelihoods for Women
On the occasion of World Bee Day, celebrated on 20 May, Nesakkarangal Charitable Trust organized a bee keeping workshop for women volunteers from the region, with the aim of promoting alternative, sustainable livelihoods and empowering women economically.
Four women from the fishing community participated in the workshop and received detailed, hands-on training in bee keeping from Mr.Nandhakumar, a young and experienced bee keeper from Panchavarnam Honeybee Farms, Ramanathapuram.
The training introduced the participants to the fundamentals of bee keeping and encouraged them to explore it as an additional source of livelihood. In the near future, interested participants plan to establish a few bee boxes at locations of their convenience, with continued guidance and cooperation from Mr.Nandhakumar.Nesakkarangal Charitable Trust will continue to extend any assistance required by the trainees as they take forward their bee keeping activities, supporting their journey towards sustainable livelihoods and greater economic empowerment.
