Kadal Kaappaan

1. Pamban Nesakkarangal Charitable Trust initiated the Kadal Kaappaan award initiative on February 13, 2021 to recognize and reward fishermen who release the endangered marine species of sea turtles back into the ocean. Since its inception, the initiative has received numerous responses from local fishermen who released sea turtles accidentally caught in their nets back into the ocean. The initiative serves to bring to the attention of the fishing community that preserving the oceans ecosystem to sustain their livelihoods rests primarily in their hands.
