SMART

1. SMART/SVEEP – Election awareness campaign

Nesakkarangal Charitable Trust’s Kadal Osai FM partnered with SMART and SVEEP to conduct a campaign to promote 100% turnout in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

2. SMART - Digital Media Literacy

Kadal Osai FM was part of SMART’s campaign to promote Digital media literacy amid increasing misinformation and fake news being spread during the pandemic causing chaos and panic throughout the nation. The campaign intended to teach local community members how to identify and verify fake news.

3. SMART – BMGF Covid Awareness campaig

Kadal Osai FM participated in SMART’s BMGF covid awareness campaign to promote the use of masks, social distancing and frequent hand wash among the masses. Stigma associated with doctors and covid positive persons was addressed in this campaign as it was the need of the hour, with many stories of negative acts towards doctors and covid infected people had cropped up during this time.

4. SMART/DATALEADS/FACTSHALA – Factshala India Media Literacy

Kadal Osai FM collaborated with SMART and Factshala to conduct a campaign on Media literacy for the community members. The campaign included radio programs and outreach activities like narrowcasting sessions.

5. SMART – Election Patshala

To promote voting in anticipation of the Tamil Nadu State Legislative Assembly Election, Kadal Osai FM worked with SMART to produce and broadcast a 6 episode campaign on elections. A lot of information, from the importance of voting, to the working of the VVPAT machines was discussed in these programs.

6. SMART – BMGF 2 Covid Awareness

The BMGF campaign returned with the rising fear of a 3rd wave of Covid. In this campaign, the new Covid Appropriate Behaviours (CAB) and importance of vaccine was promoted.

7. SMART/UNESCO/UNHCR – Refugee Rights and Protection

When the refugee crisis erupted after the insurgency in Afghanistan in August 2021, humanitarian organizations all over the world worked on sensitizing host communities towards asylum seekers and refugees. Kadal Osai FM participated in a campaign by SMART developed in coordination with UNESCO and UNHCR to promote refugee rights and protection and to improve peaceful coexistence between the host communities and refugees.

8. SMART/SATTVA – Mobilising for second dose

Health experts warned us about the approach of the 3rd wave of covid and feared it could have the worst impact yet. Kadal Osai FM partnered with SMART and SATTVA to run a campaign to urge people to take the 2nd dose of the vaccine and complete their vaccination as it will drastically help in reducing the spread and impact of the 3rd covid wave.

9. SMART Digital Rights

Kadal Osai FM was part of the Digital Rights are Human Rights campaign conducted by SMART from October to December 2022. Considering the growing number of internet users, especially among the younger population, it is essential to raise awareness on the safe usage of the digital space and the necessity to be responsible digital citizens. The campaign was conducted in the form of radio programmes as well as outreach activities.
